Oh my goodness, this Wall Street Journal piece about Trump's ailing health that includes an interview with him (gift link). There are a number of ridiculous details in it and I'll put a few of them in this thread. (1/6)

In an interview, President Trump—the oldest man to assume the office—said he has eschewed some advice from his doctors and regrets getting advanced imaging.

Paddington Bear at London's New Year's Day 2025 fireworks 🎉

"As we enter the new year, I always remember what Mrs Brown says: in London everyone is different, but that means anyone can fit in... Although I don't look like anyone else, I really feel at home. Happy New Year, Love, from Paddington"

Just a gif of the EU flag projected onto the London Eye as part of Mayor Sadiq Khan's London's New Year's Day fireworks 😀

The UK is £90 billion a year poorer because of Brexit i.e. tax rises and spending cuts, it's absurd

One day soon the madness will end and the UK will #RejoinEU ☺️

I guess one has to remember that the opposition to those in power is always greater. It's just that it's divided.

The deal is that those in power should attempt to govern for the general good of all.

That principle had clearly been discarded by many.

Jeremy Clarkson complains about no village Doctor, no village shops, no village schools, no bobby.

This is the same Jeremy Clarkson who loves Margaret Thatcher and David Cameron who made all these things happen with their cuts.

They love complaining about what they voted for.

Apparently New Year in the English & Scottish civil calenders didn't occur until Lady Day (25 March).

When the Pope made the decision (1582) on the Julian/Georgian calenders, he also set 1st Jan. as New Year.

England/Scotland & some others didn't accept this for some time: 1752.
