As an indie, you need to give people enough with each entry that they feel satisfied.

You need a beginning, middle, and end
with each book.

Readers don't always know when the next issue is coming, so every release needs to feel complete on its own.

We need to look at the "manga-fication" of storytelling.

Not the art style, but the structure.

1. Finite endings.
2. Lower text density.
3. Letting the art do the heavy lifting.

Digest-sized comics
are going to be
massive in 2026.

Fitting on a shelf next to manga collections can only help you as an indie creator.

But you can't just print smaller; you have to manipulate the lettering so it’s readable.

Don't make people squint to read your book.
January 20, 2026 at 4:36 PM
We’ve trained readers to scroll vertically, but the revolution isn't just format.

It's platform.

We're moving back to a mid-2000s webcomic model. If you want to read a creator's work, you go to their site, not an aggregator.

Control your own real estate and own your audience.

The indie comic market is shifting, and I think it’s shifting for the better.

I’m not talking about changing your writing style to follow trends.

I’m talking about the malleable things around the edges—the formats and delivery methods—that ensure your stories actually find an audience.
January 16, 2026 at 4:35 PM
Consistency took the place of quality this week.

Reality got in the way of my 'slick' video plans, but I chose fulfillment over production value.

Comics first, everything else second.

Sometimes, just showing up is half the battle.

Walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes isn't going to give you big muscles, but it keeps the system alive and makes the next step easier.

Just do the thing.
January 13, 2026 at 3:35 PM
I don’t believe 'just doing it' is enough for everything.

If you’re asking people for money, you should deliver the best possible version you can.

Don’t ship it just because it’s done—ship it because it’s ready.
January 12, 2026 at 3:35 PM
If you’ve already broken your resolution for the year, it doesn’t mean you have to give up.

It just means you had a misstep.

You can start over. You can keep trying.

Just show up tomorrow.
January 11, 2026 at 3:35 PM
Focus on systems, not results.

The whole point of implementing a system is that you eventually reach your goal simply by keeping the machine running.

You can’t control the tariffs or getting packages over the border, but you can control your system.
January 10, 2026 at 3:35 PM
I had to ask myself:

Am I doing this because I want to be a YouTuber, or so people can actually read the comics I put out there?

If that’s the goal, I have to focus on the things that get books into readers' hands.
January 9, 2026 at 3:35 PM
I have a long-term plan for my historical thriller series: 'Backlot Babylon'.

The goal?

A long-running saga where the characters age with
one year with each release.

Book 1 drops Fall 2026.

We’re solving the
US shipping problem.

For 2026, we’re moving to US-based fulfillment to speed up delivery and lower costs for backers.

No more waiting for boxes to cross the border.
