I used to pretend it didn't bother me that I don't have any close friends as I went through my 30s and 40s, but now I'm in my 50s, I'm reflecting a lot, and I'm not sure I like the answers I'm giving myself. I just realise how horrible a person I must be to have no close friends. Sobering.
