I reviewed Stop! Hibari-kun for AV Club! @peow.bsky.social’s release of the 1st volume is worth seeking out - here’s why:
In SF3d Chronicles, there's a lot of really images passed through CRT tv:s, and this was done almost 40 years ago! It's kinda funny how prevalent analog/crt vfx filters are in the 2020s. like 1/3rd of all sci-fi video game trailers nowadays.
A big part of what makes Kow Yokoyama’s photos of his models great is that he shoots them like they’re cryptids.

I spent a delightful afternoon with A Garden of Spheres yesterday. It is a beautiful book and the color pages are stunning. The story odd, sparse, and scattered. I ate it up. Lots of cool dragons too. Look I'm easy.
