Chapter 2 of this books talks about how homophobia entered the Black church thru white supremacy and it's fear of Harlem in the 20's. White ppl were using Black LGBTQ as a reason to harass the entire neighborhood. Rev Adam Clayton Powell Sr tried to stop the harassment by stopping LGBTQ visibility
