How does US aid freeze affect Taiwan's geopolitical interests? In this op-ed for @thediplomat.com, I argue that the military assistance suspension is likely to be temporary for Taiwan. However, Taipei must adjust its aid policy to alleviate the consequences of US aid suspension for its partners.

Off the news cycle for just one day and checked back in to Trump threatening sanctions against Colombia. Tariffs and visa bans are getting a lot of attention, but I'm also curious how wide-ranging the "IEEPA Treasury, Banking and Financial sanctions" would be since "fully imposed" is pretty vague.

This is a really interesting report that demonstrates how countries can simultaneously be both a de jure sanction sending state and a de facto third-party state in a multilateral sanctioning regime.
