All things child neurology: migraine, epilepsy, child development, tics & Tourettes, movement disorders...and more 💞🧠
Avoid these 3 MAJOR mistakes while flying with prescribed medications:
1. Checking meds. Keep them w/ you in carry-on.
2. Putting meds in unlabeled containers. Keep them in clearly labeled bottles from pharmacy.
3. Leaving refrigerated meds at room temp. Bring insulated bag per airline policy.

If you could ask your child's neurologist anything, what would you ask?

Previously I focused my social media efforts on childhood migraines. My role as a #pediatricneurology NP has shifted & im working mostly inpatient now, which means I tend to see more seizures and other acute neurologic problems. Would you like to see more variety? Cover more peds neuro cases?

Is your child is experiencing frequent headaches or #migraines, have they had any labs checked? There are some basic labs that can be drawn that can help identify underlying causes of your child's headaches. I will break these down in my next post.

Part 2: Answer to yesterday's case 👉🏽👉🏽 TOMATOES 🍅

Tomatoes are part of the nightshade veg family which (for sensitive individuals) can cause inflammation.

Tomatoes contain histamine and tyramine, compounds that can trigger #migraines.

Some people respond well to a low histamine/tyramine diet.

Part 1: I recently had a patient with daily headaches. His labs/imaging were normal. We tried supplements including magnesium, coq10, & riboflavin which would initially help but eventually his headaches would return. At our last visit his headaches were completely gone after eliminating THIS food👉🏽

Children with #migraine are finally protected in the U.S!!!! I've had migraine since I was 2 years old. Most teachers, and nurses, didn't believe how debilitating my migraine attacks could be. In 2025, children no longer have to face that shame. Full alt text first slide #health #childhoodmigraine
