Huge congratulations to Perth Against Racism for their (hopefully final) counter demonstration today against Far Right forces protesting outside a hotel housing refugees and asylum seekers! After four weeks, the racists changed their plans last minute to not march illegally to the hotel but past it to a park down the road where they were immediately dispersed by the police. Goes to show what a consistent anti-racist presence can do to make them bottle it at the last minute!!One of the main highlights of the day was the new 'Women Against the Far Right' banner (people also queued to get WAFR placards as well) that people held up and stood behind, chanting as the far right passed by. One of our activists spoke about the Women's bloc within the anti-racism bloc at the @povertyalliance @scottishtuc #ScotlandDemandsBetter demo in Edinburgh next week (Oct 25th) about the need to unite for better wages, public services and living conditions but scapegoating refugees and asylum seekers is not the answer, a united movement with anti-racism at the heart of it is!#antracist #standuptoracism #StopTheFarRight #scotlanddemandsbetter #refugeesarewelcomehere #antifascist
