I like books & teaching & helping & customer service & learning & tech & crafts & organizing, so I decided to become a librarian at age 50. Of course. #schoollibrarian #middleschool
Phase 1 is complete. Now to finish the other 87 phases by Tuesday without losing it. #middleschoollibrary #librarydecor

8th grader upon seeing my all-black outfit for secret teacher spirit week: “l love this: it’s giving mystical, witchy librarian with hidden tunnels everywhere & she lives in the attic library & a boy goes missing in her Victorian town…I don’t know where this is going.”
Me: “We should do a podcast.”

Scholastic sent me 2 cases of stuff like this for a MS book fair, and while I love the idea of a book fair and I’ve reached out to the neighboring elementary school to see if we can get some kind of pop-up thing going, the juice does not feel worth the squeeze here.

I work at a morale-poor school and I’ve gotten into a habit of joining the “woe is us” chorus. I’m also an older librarian. Funny how these articles seem to sidle up beside me and clear their throats when I need them. Thanks, @drtlovesbooks.bsky.social

Y’all. This lady just sent me a passel of good nonfiction info. My Kindle is loaded with this book, my ChatGPT is warming up for some lesson planning, and I’m curled up in bed with a cup of tea. Laundry plans be damned.

This is an AMAZING start for my nonfiction “mountain.” I’ll have to sort of reverse engineer this since the students are used to short passages, but it ties in neatly with their standards! Thanks, @drtlovesbooks.bsky.social for the rec! melissa-stewart.com/wp-content/u...

Good news from Colorado: A U.S. District Judge ordered a school district to restore library books they banned by next week, prohibiting the district from further restrictions on access to books that the school board objects to politically.

Federal judge orders Colorado district to return banned books to school libraries
The order prohibits the school board from removing books “because the district disagrees with the views expressed therein or merely to further their preferred political or religious orthodoxy.”

This is such a kind way to do this! ❤️
End-of-year book returns can be tough—this approach adds dignity for students who tried to find lost books. 💛 Originally by Laura Woodruff, and it really made a difference for me to retain my relationship with students. #TLSky #Skybrarians #TLChat #TLSkyChat

Is there a nonfiction version of a story mountain? My middle schoolers are struggling with seeing how authors use info to get their points across and I’d like to have a visual. Heeelpppp!
