It is official!! I have been awarded an NSF grant of ~$1 million for the project: "Exploring the role of fruit-eating bats in the dispersal of plant pathogens and the Escape hypothesis." Co-principal investigators are Gloriana Chaverri (yes... my sister... @morceglo.bsky.social ) and Max Chavarria.

We finally published this paper! It took some time, but it’s out now! In short, we found that the limited fungal diversity and “low-functionality” of the sloth gut microbiota might help explain their "slothness." 🦥 This was an amazing team effort! link.springer.com/article/10.1...
