Just listened to @marketecture.tv 2025 predictions podcast and @aripaparo.com's prediction that Google is 100% going to announce divestiture of its adtech division raises a lot of interesting questions and issues. I agree it's likely but I also think it will likely benefit the rest of Google. 1/

I'll just point out that teeny tiny ad sales from Apple on this chart ($6.8 billion) are 13 times the 2023 ad sales of the New York Times ($505 million).

This would be insanely interesting
the logical buyer is The Trade Desk—they could take out the janky "Privacy Sandbox" stuff and put in UID2, OpenPass, and consent management. Not all users would leave the ad features on, but TTD would be able to give those who do a better experience with less nagging for consent and emails

New business idea: Replace media-trained big company execs on the conference circuit with AI. Truisms, repeating the company line, and saying things like "great question" or "we stand committed to supporting the ecosystem" are things an AI would be amazing at.
