I recently discovered this wonderful book club co-liberative-computing.github.io organised by @payberah.bsky.social that brings a justice approach to computing. I'm happy to join the book club today to discuss my new book 'Technocolonialism' www.politybooks.com/bookdetail?b...

I was privileged to speak about power dynamics in academia at the KTH PhD Chapter. I discussed how the matrix of domination operates in research and explored ways to challenge it using the approaches of Paulo Freire and bell hooks.

Yesterday, we hosted a WASP-HS workshop on "Exploring Bias in Generative Models", with great talks about bias in LLMs, including topics like stereotypes, cultural alignment, and even "Marxist LLM". Some of the slides are available here:

Bsky academics, let's get to know each other! Quote this & tell: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren't working on but keep thinking about

1. addressing intersectional biases in LLMs across different applications, e.g., rec. sys. and NER

2. co-liberative computing

1) structural analysis of anti-surveillance movements, what they need to succeed, how they make knowledge

2) agonistic politics

I've selected "Angelus Novus" as the logo for my "Data Feminism" course. Like the angel seeing past disasters, AI is built on biased data. Progress pushes AI forward, but the bias remains. We'll critically explore these challenges in the course:
