November was lighter than most months, but a few of these were on the long side. I surprisingly really enjoyed the historical fiction of The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, but was really tripped up by another novel in the same genre, Six Days in Bombay by Alka Joshi. #the52bookclub #booksky

Here's my 2025 Challenge Recap. It was tough picking just three books I loved, but the ones on the graphic are:

Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books by Kirsten Miller
Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

2-Play Nice by Rachel Harrison
3-Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab

Fewer books this month, but Clarissa counts for 4-5. Edgar Mint won best for the month. Forget Me Not was a good thriller. #the52bookclub #booksky

I think I have a new favorite meal! I made a green version of Shakshouka. I love poached eggs but Cara hates them so we made a side of scrambled for her.

Clarissa, or, The History of a Young Lady by Samuel Richardson, was most truly vexing. I confess, as a modern man accustomed to brevity and action, the prolixity of the Letters did try my patience. #the52bookclub #booksky

I finished the ABC Challenge with the addition of The Miracle Life of Edgar Mint by Brady Udall. It’s a southwestern version of Demon Copperhead, and Udall’s writing is similar to Kingsolver's. #the52bookclub #booksky

I’ve finished the core 52 Books Challenge for the year! I’m also done with Connections, so I’m living for the mini challenges now. #the52bookclub #booksky

#46 - Read in a “-ber” month | The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab. Always watch what you wish for. #the52bookclub #booksky
September 1, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Read some excellent books in August. First place is a tie between Miller's Valley and My Friends. #the52bookclub #booksky
August 31, 2025 at 6:21 PM
#26 - More than a million copies sold | And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. Sometimes titled Ten Little Indians (or worse), this is one of Christie’s most intricate works, with 10 mysteries happening in sequence. #the52bookclub #booksky

Not as many books read in July, but still over 2000 pages. Demon Copperhead was my favorite for the month.

#2 - A character with red hair: Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. Appalachian poverty, drug addiction and a broken foster care system within a modern retelling of David Copperfield. Almost every chapter ended with me yelling “Give this poor kid a break already!” #the52bookclub #booksky

Connections 21. Is somehow connected to your Prompt 20 and Prompt 1 picks - The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Like Ove and Dex, Kvothe is shaped by loss and embarks on a journey to rediscover purpose, identity, and connection. #the52bookclub #booksky

Mom and little one were playing by the pool this morning. Bobcats are fierce protectors of their territory. Their presence may signify that you are being watched over and protected. #druidsky
July 19, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Connections 20. Title has same number of vowels as previous title (7) - A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. This was a light and simple story with some deep truths about our purpose and the meaning of life. #the52bookclub #booksky
