More Sophocles! #Elektra at #DukeofYorksTheatre—#BrieLarson is great in a pent-up punk frenzy, and #StockardChanning is imperious. Beautiful singing, but…a distracting spotlight, a baffling blimp, and endless ‘no’s like Dory speaking whale in Finding Nemo—so much I just didn’t get. 🤷‍♂️

#Summer1954, #RichmondTheatre. Siân Phillips’ turn is delicious, Nathaniel Parker movingly nuanced and sympathetic. Wonderful performances all round. Rattigan’s Table Number 7 and The Browning Version, clever, hilarious, deeply thoughtful portraits of Englishness then. Lovely venue too!

Oedipus, The Old Vic. Strikingly lit, minimal staging, dark humour, and a solid retelling. Indira Varma great with less to get stuck into than Lady Macbeth gave her. Rami Malek adds real star presence. The dance? Impressive but overlong. Enjoyable overall!

Saw this. A lovely film. A touching snapshot of male relationships like Pacino & Hackman in Scarecrow or Hoffman & Voight in Midnight Cowboy. Kieran Culkin is heart rending. Funny and moving…and fitting in Holocaust Remembrance week. #arealpain

Saw ‘A Complete Unknown’ today. Timothée Chalamet is unbelievably believable as young Bob Dylan! Great performances all round in fact. It’s exciting, moving, and totally absorbing. My word, it is good! 👍😎♥️

The Fear of 13 at Donmar last night. Adrian Brody is funny and quietly heartbreaking as Nick Yarris, and Nana Mensah brings warmth. In a strong ensemble Aidan Kelly’s warder stands out. Thoughtful, moving, innovatively staged true story. #FearOf13 #NickYarris #AdrianBrody #DonmarWarehouse

Macbeth at the Pinter Theatre tonight: amazing production. David Tennant absolutely magnetic, Cush Jumbo beguiling…whole cast just great. The immersive binaural earphone experience heightened the intensity. Riveting evening. Thoroughly enjoyed that! #Macbeth #DavidTennant #CushJumbo #PinterTheatre

Visited @Tate Britain to see the #TurnerPrize2024 shortlist. Pio Abad’s work weaves personal/political histories via objects, creatively rethinking narratives. His pandemic drawings & Romanov crowns stood out for me. Seen it yet? Thoughts? #PioAbad #ContemporaryArt
