If China invades Taiwan, Korth Korea will likely invade South Korea. North Korean soldiers were sent to fight in Ukraine to gain valuable battlefield experience.

Considering all these threats, how can Hegseth successful manage US military responses if he weakens senior military leadership?

If China conquers Taiwan, the US will lose access to the factories that produce the world's most advanced semiconductors, with severe repercussions for the military and the US and world economy in general. And those powerful chips would now be available to China, to further enhance its military.

In addition, Xi Jinping has order his military to prepare to invade Taiwan by 2027. China now has now the world’s largest armed forces. According to a recent NY Times editorial the Chinese military now rivals the United States in air, naval and missile power. Can the US win a war with China?
May 11, 2025 at 4:26 AM
But there are many other military challenges facing the US and the West now and the near future. First is war in Ukraine. Putin wants to reconstitute the old USSR. That means attacks on NATO allies Poland and the Baltic States. If Trump does not support NATO, then NATO won't support the US

Does anyone think that Trump can successfully negotiate with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khameni to peacefully give up its nuclear program. Trump has stated that if the Iranians don’t agree to a peaceful settlement there will be war. How will the US be able to defend Saudi Arabia and other allies?
May 11, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Hegseth believes that Trump can convince Iran to peacefully give up its nuclear programs by the "force of his personality." But recall that in 2019, Trump failed to achieve a denuclearization agreement with North Korean strongman Kim Jung-Un.

By way of historical precedent, Stalin’s 1936-1938 Great Purge included many Red Army generals, weakening Red Army leadership. When Hitler invaded Russia in 1941, the initial Red Army response was ineffective, suffering heavy losses.

Hegseth recently announced he was going to cut the number of four-star generals and admirals by 20% plus an additional 10% of one-star or above or generals and Navy officers. Those cuts risk US security long-term and also Trump’s upcoming negotiations with Iran.

Pete Hegseth is today’s featured inept and bungling Cabinet secretary. Sorry for the large number of posts, but this is a complex issue.

If Trump can successfully establish the power to deport or "disappear" _anyone_ including American citizens, at any time and for any reason without due process, it is a serious attack on the Constitution and rule of law.

And the start of American gulag system.

Please no blather about gangs.
April 23, 2025 at 5:26 AM
The gulags were Soviet forced labor camps that imprisoned untold millions of people during Stalin’s reign, mostly for political offenses or members of ethnic minorities. Gulag prisoners worked under very harsh conditions, with tens of thousands dying each year from malnutrition and execution.

So exactly why can’t the US insist that El Salvador return Garcia? The government claims it can’t do anything to get Garcia back. No one believes that. The harsh truth is that Trump apparently wants to establish Soviet-style gulags, starting with El Salvador.

Trump threatened to impose steep tariffs on all Colombian imports, plus other harsh measure., per CNN. Trump wants to use the tariffs imposed on April 2 compel other countries to negotiate with the US.
April 23, 2025 at 5:15 AM
Breathtaking hypocrisy: When it suits him, Trump will use any means to bully other countries. On January 27, Colombia agreed to accept flights of deported migrants. Columbia responded to harsh threats from Trump.

Pope Donald is expected to quickly shut down programs that favored immigrants, the poor, and minorities in general, which Trump has regarded as “woke” and contrary to MAGA values. Pope Donald will lay off staff, including all African Cardinals and bishops.

President Trump has moved quickly to appoint a new Pope, only hours after the death of Pope Francis, the White House has just announced. The new Pope will be Elon Musk, who will be known as Pope Donald. Trump had long sought to fire Pope Francis.

data breach (continued)
Giving these DOGE kids access to sensitive databases, rushing the process, made a breach almost inevitable. At Twiiter, Musk fired most of the IT staff, and X reliability has gone way down. So we can assume that Musk doesn't care about government database security.
Elon Musk's event with Ron DeSantis reveals more Twitter pitfalls
In the world of traditional media and politics, a glitchy half-hour delay and an audience in the hundreds of thousands rather than millions, Wednesday's Twitter Spaces event might look like a failure.

Trump DOES have a 2025 DEI agenda. It is just different from the agendas he so emphatically opposed.
Defunding
Extortion
Intolerance

or
Disruptions
Embarassment
Inquisitions

Any ideas for other versions of the Trump DEI?
