Graffiti artwork at Dinorwig Slate Quarry in Eryri. I had seen several photographs of these paintings before and found a couple on my last visit. The Banksy-style stencil painting of the miners can be found in the quarry, depicting the men who worked deep in the slate quarries and mines of Wales.

This panorama was taken just as the sun broke above the barracks on an otherwise wet, cold, and windy day in Eryri (Snowdonia). For my next visit, I’ll check the weather forecast before I leave home….!

The hidden waterfall in Dinorwic Quarry
A hidden waterfall in Dinorwic Quarry, North Wales, cascades from a disused mining tunnel into the pit known as California. Lush ferns cover the slate walls, creating an intimate and magical scene.

Menai Bridge and the House.
The Menai Suspension Bridge (Pont Grog y Borth) spans the Menai Strait between the island of Anglesey and the mainland of Wales. Designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1826, it was the world's first major suspension bridge.

Dolgoch Falls, or Dol-goch Falls (Red Meadow Falls in English), has lost some of its woodland over the winter due to several storms that passed through, with many of the trees and branches ending up in the river.

Paddling Pool – Taken with a 650n IR & ND filter of the local paddling pool. The ND filter altered the pool water's colour to red and the surrounding balustrades to teal even after colour correction. Planed as a black and white image I quite liked the look of the teal and left it as it was.

Penmachno is one of the most scenic places in Wales, even in the depths of winter. Although the packhorse bridge is the usual main subject for most images, I just thought that the light coming through the trees on the far bank of the Afon Machno depicted the atmospheric feel of the area.

A little-known waterfall sits alongside the A470 two miles south of Builth Wells. Most of the year, there is little or no water in the river, but in the winter, it turns into a small, picturesque waterfall that’s a joy to photograph.

Smugglers Cove Boatyard on the Dyfi Estuary, with its collection of boats and its mysterious atmosphere, is an amazing location to photograph. This photo was taken using an infrared Hoya (R72) 720nm filter which when processed as a black-and-white image transforms the boat into another reality.
