5/20 1:20 AM: storms approaching the Mid-South, so far, are sub-severe. Can’t rule out a round of gusty downpours through mid-morning. Severe risk remain in play through the course of Tuesday. We’ll be watching closely on this ALERT DAY.

⚠️ FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY issued for the risk for strong to severe storms Friday. Highest risk zone will tend to be north of I-40 through early evening before shifting south tonight. Damaging wind, large hail and a risk of a tornado are possible.

With the sluggish moving front - rain chances will tend to remain elevated for our south/eastern communities on this Monday, at least through midday. The front will help to kick up spotty rain chances south/east of Memphis Tuesday before lifting north Wednesday, Thursday.

(4/10, 5 PM) Scattered storms this afternoon / evening will be more prone to large hail and strong wind, but not everyone will see the storms. Improvements in storm coverage should occur around or just after sunset as things calm down locally.

So far - 10 tornadoes have been confirmed from last week’s storms: 4 EF3, 1 EF2, 4 EF1 and 1 EF0. Preliminarily strongest: 165 mph EF3 in Senatobia / Tate County.

Impact 3: Flooding - the stalling nature of the front and a stout supply of moisture may lead to days of flooding issues across the Mid-South. The MODERATE-HIGH flooding risk: typical of numerous flood events in just ONE day - this will be 3-4 days in a row with that risk.
