It's been so wonderful to see so much of the convention at Gen Con. Just being in a space with other nerds is so awesome!

As a Gen Con goer attending with a disabled friend:
If said disabled person tells you your game isn't accessible for them. Ask how it could be better, listen, and thank them for their efforts and insights, like the person we spoke with.
That's how you deal with that.

No one has the capacity to take on every social justice issue. Pick a few causes, don't burn yourself out. Understand others may pick different issues to focus on, uplift and support each other. don't fight over "whats more important".

In the service of more expansive and complicated stories, I don’t really do “villains” anymore. Only antagonists.
Typically, they’re just trying to survive impossible circumstances, or are literal concepts embodied.
Oxygen calls fire a villain for burning.
Sheep call wolves a villain for hunting.

What is your favorite "reason" to use for a villain or antagonistic force in a story?
I've got a handful, but the ones that immediately come to mind are good ol' fashioned Greed, and pure, raw Desperation.

TL;DR: Boomers are spoiled.
Now, when I say this, I am not being agist, and I need to make that clear. My grandparents, at my parents current age, took accountability for things, even if it was to their detriment. This new generation of seniors does not know how to take responsibility.

I have a complicated relationship with my mother. She wasn't a *good* mother, but there were times she tried, and as she had many severe mental health issues... I guess the message I want to put out today is for those who also feel ambivalent today.
