Disney park history, especially the obscure, weird and forgotten stuff. We also created the original #WDW ride every ride in 1 day challenge.
Have you read “Disney War”? It documents the turmoil at the end of Michael Eisner’s tenure as CEO. Featuring Roy Disney, corporate intrigue, and public battles, it’s a wild ride that altered Disney’s future forever. Inexpensive copies can be found today; we highly recommend it.

Casual park fans don’t know what this is. Serious fans know all about it. Hardcore fans have been there. Is this the most amazing non-ride location in any theme park? It’s crazy to think that this is hidden away in a secondary attraction that some guests skip altogether!

Has Rise of the Resistance unfairly become a punching bag for critics while actually being one of Disney’s greatest attractions? Guests even remain immersed in the story right down to the unique outdoor unload (with a full animatronic) and, finally, the Star Wars score!

Somehow Animal Kingdom Lodge continues to fly under the radar as one of Disney’s least occupied premium resorts, but why? It may be its isolated location, but just look at it! Is it worth being a bit farther away? It has everything else and more.

Few drunks stumbling around World Showcase are aware of the remarkable art hidden in The American Adventure. This piece, titled "Reaching for the Stars", is by Robert McCall, the same artist who created murals for Horizons. Have you ever seen the amazing rotunda art gallery?

If 1980s “EPCOT Center” was a sincere, optimistic view of the world, and 90s “Epcot” was a whacky and weird pastiche of zany ideas, like this solar-powered air-cooled bench. Then what’s the tone of present EPCOT? It’s important to have a cohesive direction.

This was the Polynesian in the 80s. The stunning details, the high-end finishes, the magical Disney touches… oh wait, it had none of those. We adore old-school Walt Disney World, but was everything really better back then? Nostalgia is great, but it’s often rose-tinted.

Do you remember Disney-MGM Studios? Or even the previous incarnation of Disney-Hollywood Studios? This is one of the last vestiges of those old parks, but do you know why?

Is Galaxy’s Edge “devoid of life”? Critics harp on that, but look around; signs of creatures are everywhere. Some are obvious, others hidden. These are but a few.

From 1994-2007, at the peak of Space Ship Earth, Jeremy Irons propelled us into a “new communication super network” as the Internet was born. We entered a literal world of information; it wasn’t the original ending, but was it the best?

First, we had ticket books; we paid more for big rides (E-Tickets). Then, we got all-inclusive passes. Then came various forms of free Fast Passes (nice). Today, we pay more for big rides again. It’s gone full circle. Should we just go back to the damn ticket books?

Did Disney really hide the decapitated head of Andy’s friend “Rex” in Dinoland for over 27 years, or are we seeing things?

Did Michael Eisner save Disney or nearly destroy it? The answer is a resounding YES! His first decade transformed Disney into a global powerhouse. However, his second decade was a series of costly mistakes that turned fans and colleagues against him. Angel or devil? You decide.

You poor Floridians and Southern Californians. You will never see a sight like this, and not just because of the temperature! Is it worth a winter trip to Tokyo just for this?!

Only Disney super fans have any idea what this is. Do you miss it?

Did you ever see this view? We love how the spires of Tomorrowland echoed the spires of the castle. When a park first opens, a cohesive design vision holds it all together. Inevitably, decades of incremental changes set in and alter it forever. Sound familiar?

Was Alien Encounter Disney’s most star-studded attraction ever? Every cast member was a known actor. We’re well aware of Jeffrey Jones’s legal troubles, but you also had Tyra Banks, Tim Curry, Kathy Najimy, and Kevin Pollak. That’s a lot of 90’s star power for one attraction!

Do you call it “The Magic Kingdom” or are you visiting “Magic Kingdom”? That one simple question reveals a lot about you and likely how you feel about the parks today. One word that most never even notice changed says a lot!

The jail scene in Pirates of the Caribbean is an absolute classic. Marc Davis brought this type of humor throughout the ride. Have you seen the Shanghai version? We love tributes like this; the poor guys never got out! Have you spotted the differences in the others?

Do you remember the infamous “Disney Decade”? In 1989, Disney CEO Michael Eisner unveiled grand plans for massive park expansions over the next 10 years, only to have most cancelled or radically scaled back. Disney’s America, WestCOT, Roger Rabbit's Hollywood, and more… gone!

It’s totally meaningless to guests today, but in the 80s, THIS was EPCOT. Bright, fun, optimistic, and futuristic. It was simple, but it was amazing. We can’t think of a single image that captures that moment in time better, can you?

Most of the character figures seen at the end of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train were recycled directly from Snow White’s Scary Adventures, but did you know the vultures were as well? Point this out to your friends and family annoying them to no end. That’s what we’re here for.

In the 90s, Tomorrowland received big updates like Alien Encounter, but have you heard of Robo-Newz? This long-forgotten talking robot is the exact type of detail we love. The irony of a print-on-demand newspaper salesman from the future is fantastic! But why remove him?
October 30, 2025 at 7:44 PM
Is this the most 1982 photograph ever taken? We challenge you to beat it. The short shorts, the tube socks, the jersey, the hair, FREAKING BRAND-NEW EPCOT! You may not have been alive, but trust us, this was amazing! Who remembers?

Disney is known for its animatronics, but apart from presidents, they don’t often make recognizable living people. Johnny Depp, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, and arguably Harrison Ford are exceptions. But there’s at least one other CURRENTLY in a park. Who are we missing?
