Always add alt text to images that you share on social media.

Alt text is a short description that tells people what is in the image.
It helps people who use screen readers understand your post.

Alt text should describe the image clearly and briefly.

I see it as the birth of an ongoing struggle.” “I am celebrating the helpful accommodations the ADA provides for people with disabilities in college.” “Celebrating the ability for people to participate and connect in their communities due to better access.” How does the ADA impact your daily life? “Empowerment of my rights.” “Captions in theaters without having to use external devices.” “When there is a problem with ADA issues, I can refer to the law and don't have to argue about my rights.” “Protection from discrimination.” “ADA is no longer a thought but an automatic action.” “Greater communication opportunities for people who are deaf, particularly 911.” What are your hopes for the future of the ADA? “What I wish to see in the future is that universal design is not something we discuss. Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires federal digital content to be accessible.

Accessible design is good design. Make sure your content is inclusive, easy to understand, and usable by more people.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a landmark civil rights law passed in 1990.

It protects the rights of people with disabilities and ensures they have equal access to all areas of life.

Now, on the 35th anniversary, we continue to build on that progress.

Every July, we celebrate the history, culture, and achievements of people with disabilities.

This year’s Disability Pride Month theme is “We Belong Here, and We’re Here to Stay.”

July is Disability Pride Month background is an illustration of the disability pride flag which is a green, light blue, white, yellow, and light red flag with a black backdrop. Disability Pride Month celebrates disability as an identity by sharing the experiences of the disabled community. It is celebrated in July because it is the month that the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law.
