Prof. at KCL developing modelling and imaging technology to improve cardiac care, leader of the CMIB group.

Cardiac digital twins. Computational cardiology.
Kudos to Uxio Hermida!

🎓 🏆 King's Outstanding Thesis Prize winner! 🏆 🎓

Won after his hard PhD work to better understand the coarctation of the aorta, delivering insights to better predict its onset before babies are born, and providing a research prototype being tested in the clinic!

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) causes more than 1/4 of UK deaths. Continued support for research is critical to saving more lives. That's why I joined over 60 @TheBHF funded-researchers in writing to the Government urging them to prioritise CVD in the Life Sciences Plan www.bhf.org.uk/what-we-do/n...

How to measure what we cannot observe?

By model fitting

We have studied 1000's subjects from @ukbiobank.bsky.social and learned how electrical conduction velocity and cellular parameters are affected by sex, aging or obesity, and explain why these factors are linked to a higher cardiac risks.

The multi-disciplinary fun. One of the ingredients that I like the most of my job.

Yesterday I disguised myself as a real doctor and witnessed the incredible orchestration that happens in the EP lab, this time led by Sandra Howell and Aldo Rinaldi

When you learn more from your PhD student than what you teach them – this is a joy!
This is the case of David, who passed his PhD viva yesterday
His proud supervisory team: @albertogomez.bsky.social, Arian Beqiri and myself
