Left media, left London, returned to Yorkshire. Happier. Go figure.
Weekend in ruins even before #lufc has gotten involved. #theashes

The greatest trick Bazball plays is promoting entertaining cricket that is fundamentally careless, yet paying England fans lap it up. It offers bang for your buck, but is actually the opposite. #theashes

I hate this England (batting) side #theashes

If this lack of care continues, you wouldn’t blame England fans who have paid good money to be there if they started to turn on them #theashes

I never had strong feelings about Villa until *that* game. Moaning over something that was neither a foul nor an actual injury, not playing to the whistle and all that followed. The icing being their cherished sporting integrity evaporating vs The Blunts the next year. Weird, huh? #lufc

I was in my mid-20s when I discovered the golf brand Titleist was pronounced ‘Title-ist’, not ‘Tit-leist’

The constant booing of Carey and our moaning about that stumping is just embarrassing, frankly #theashes

Germinal by Zola during as part of my French A Level. Themes that are still relevant today (and probably always) and unending physical and mental brutality. This was a proper book and I’m thankful I was exposed to it.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

It’s the ten year anniversary of this tweet. I’ve honestly never got over it. It’s the look on his face while being told off. All for a joke that didn’t quite go as planned. We’ve all been there

Linkin Park. With an honourable mention for LCD Soundsystem.
What is your biggest musical blindspot for someone precisely your age?

For me - an elder millennial - it is that I have never knowingly listened to INCUBUS, nor could I name even one of their songs if you put a gun to my head.

The performance was inexcusable, but the decision to penalise Stach for that coming together is one of the most abysmal calls I’ve ever seen #lufc
