"You remember how it was in Immendorf, when everybody came to blankly stare at the holes in Tommy’s jeep, mumble “God Damn” and then turn away not wanting to believe that the blood on the windshield was his, but at the same time, knowing he was dead and there wasn’t a thing we could do..."

T/5 Charles L. "Tommy" Thomas was in my dad's company, 102nd Division, 405th Regiment, 3rd Battalion, HQ Company.

KIA 11/28/44 in Immendorf, Germany.

Dad's diary says 11/27/44, along with a longer statement that won't fit here.

A couple more items from my 102nd Division collection.
Field jacket, helmet, BC-1000/SCR-300 backpack radio. My dad would have worn and carried the same.
A cigarette lighter made during the occupation of Germany after the surrender. Likely made in Thuringia or Bavaria in late 1945 or early 1946.

Hello. I’m Dave Cavner. My dad fought in WWII France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany (from Cherbourg, France to Tangermünde on the Elbe River.
Facebook decided to suspend me, maybe because of war references???, and so losing years of historical info that I have collected and shared. Hope you enjoy!
