Penang footways are often a bit dodge. This welcome improvement with in situ kerb mostly went kind of well

Loved the riverside cycle tour on Kuala Lumpur city centre [Mike Bikes] with my son and some other tourists. Back roads, river path, temples and great lunch all in Dutch orange
Cycling along tree lined Klang riverside path. Merdeka 118 tower skyscraper towers over skyline Cycling in MikeBikes orange vests along 3 lane dual carriageway street with blue cycle lane (with cars parked in it). Speed humps mean traffic isn't too difficult to contend with Cycle tour group cycling in Indian quarter of Brickfields with parked cars and coloured arches along footway edge Happy cycle rider in orange hi vis. Stopped at busy junction with bus passing, overhead monorail and motorbikes chaos. Cycle riders have to take the lane to be safe

Normal walking in KL has all those very basic difficulties of sub division development and lack of public planning interest in making sure there are good pedestrian connections, streets and spaces
Only way between development separated by double height elevated highway is by muddy path across a vacant lot Tree route heave on footway that has severely pushed up paving slabs Route from private development to pedestrian crossing is a muddy path between planting. Ped crossing has signal post in middle of pathway Paved path behind crash barrier next to double deck elevated highway to dodgy staircase. An unofficial but well used footpath from one side of road to other

Getting 500m from Singapore Harbour to Gardens by the Bay involves crossing 2 dual carriageways, weaving through the massive Marina Bay Sands hotel and multiple lifts and escalators (& via mega brand mall and green bridges). Fun but convoluted & 2nd class - could have been straightforward and level

Always a culture shock returning to KL to visit family. Only the size of Birmingham but built with total US style car-based planning like a megalopolis. Lots of buzz but basic things sacrificed: nature, rivers, walking and cycling. Fightbacks are happening but uphill gradient is now so steep

I love the restrained interwar simplicity of Grøndals Church on edge of Frederiksberg built 1928 in National Romantic Late Gothic design by architect Julius Smith. Sits on a Y junction of giant interwar roads

Other unsung spaces I love in Copenhagen are the once modest (but prob now really expensive) potato row houses with their narrow streets and homezone segments
Homezone in straight 19c street of terraced houses with lots of trees. Still lots of parked cars but a quiet area close to city centre. Homezone area with picnic table and play house in street. Vehicles can pass through carefully but parking discouraged with planters, tree etc in this c.30m section
