It's Pet Diabetes Awareness Month. It is estimated that 1 in 300 adult dogs and 1 in 230 cats in the US have diabetes. Obesity is a contributing factor, so keeping pets at a healthy weight reduces their risk of diabetes. Obese cats are 4x more likely to develop diabetes than normal weight cats. 1/2
