A funny side effect of nationalism is that people who will grandly yell "dump your partner! quit your job! trans your gender!" will hear that you're considering leaving the country and suddenly start talking very soberly about how that's a huge irreversible change to consider very carefully

This is a fun new side project I'll be working on during the impending unemployment because I like maps and vector calculus and can only allocate so much of my day to furry projects.
I'm working on fantasy map generation software that builds hyperrealistic terrain, creates interesting and locally consistent placenames, and outputs everything as shapefiles for editing and overlaying. First step is Perlin noise terrain generation! #worldbuilding #ttrpg #fantasy

Watching people get really nationalistic about the Olympics is wild to me. With everything else that's happened in your lifetime, watching a luge race is going to make you proud to be an American? I get that sports events are exciting but wrapping it up in the flag makes zero sense.
