I remember about a decade ago, my IT manager, disabled the power button, hid the taskbar and pushed out a GPO of a BSOD wallpaper and included IT and management. No power button made the computers feel possessed.
@jenmsft.bsky.social I think you would enjoy this IT Story.

Know what happens when you plug a USBC iPhone into a Dell Thunderbolt dock setup? Screen mirroring. Glad my "what does this do" nerd test could be shared with you fine people.

Instead of a traditional holiday break I’m going in for testing for my grand mal seizure I had in October. Hopefully they find something to explain it. I have been fine since, speech is still a bit slow, but almost 60 days out most side effects seem to be gone. See yall on the other side.

For those that don’t know. I had a grand mal seizure November 1st. 20 minutes long. I should not be here verbally, but I am by Grace from Above. I’m not even 60% verbal, talking is a struggle. But we are getting care at Stanford end of next month.

My System76 Launch keyboard is dead. So, ready for new options. I want wired, with one USB passthrough, preferably USBC passthrough. Budget around $150. Open to ideas.

When your TLS certs expire for your main office VPN, and you have never renewed them before. It was 30 minutes of PANIC. I won, eventually.

Ok. Who else calls a remote “the box”?

It’s a saying from my father and I have no idea where it comes from.

I been in this field for 15 years and I just learned this keyboard shortcut.
Windows tip of the day:

If you hold ALT and double click a file in File Explorer, it will open Properties for that file

Modern cars are ridiculous. So much effort for a battery.

Super helpful during blackscreen issues during remote support sessions. Fixes it most of the time.
Windows tip —

If you ever encounter a black screen, press WIN + CTRL + SHIFT + B

Tells the computer you're experiencing a black screen and tries to fix it

It is finished. After automation failed on 30% of my organization. I just finished the Windows 11 manual upgrade on the rest of the org. Many, many long nights into early mornings to get this done. 12 days before our Windows 10 cutoff.
