Anyone from the #80s will tell you: no visit to the mall was complete without flipping through the poster displays in record stores (and Spencer’s). It was a must. It was practically our job. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m on the hunt for a new Police poster. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s
In the #80s, #Thanksgiving got us in the mood for football, and football got us in the mood for fighting, 10 yards at a time. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Jf...

On this day in the #80s, you went to grandma’s house and ate #Thanksgiving dinner. Later, she put the leftovers in these Servalier Tupperware containers. Not ones that *look* like these. THESE are the actual containers from your grandma’s. Pretty freaky, huh? #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

OK. It’s 1987. You’re stuck in the grocery store while your mom is shopping for #Thanksgiving food. Which magazine on the rack today are you going to flip through first? #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

If you were a New Yorker who was into “growing” and “snow,” a good #80s strategy was to also include a “D.A.R.E.” sticker to throw off the scent, if you know what I mean. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

The skaters called me a “poser” in the #80s because they thought I bought Airwalk sneakers and couldn’t skate down my own driveway without being scared out of my mind. But the joke’s on them because I didn’t buy Airwalks; I bought knockoffs! #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

This was the boombox in the #80s that I hoisted on my shoulder and walked around like a badass with— the General Electric 3-5252C. I’d like to see kids today try this with their little soda can-sized Bluetooth speakers. They’d look like idiots! #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

#80s kids saw so many important technological innovations up close, but you’ll have a hard time finding one bigger than the Thermos sippy nub that emerged in 1978. Before that, we all used to pour our bevs into the mug cap like a damn coal miner from the 1930s. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

The week before an #80s #Thanksgiving, I’ll tell you what was going down: your mom was asking you to find the decorations, and you were digging out the holiday magnets, pins, napkins, salt & pepper shakers, candles, and my personal favorite: Greedy Smurf hauling out one charred-ass mother-f’n bird.

The first Beastie Boys album is sheer perfection. If you only ever heard the singles, you’re in for a treat, as every single cut could’ve been chosen for radio / MTV in the #80s. “Slow Ride” is a perfect example. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sf9G...

There was nothing worse in the #80s than being a fool people pitied. And you’d think buying Mr. T’s cereal would remedy that. But if you think eating a box that consists of only 1 flavor and no marshmallows was going to somehow spare you, I got 1 prediction for you: pain. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

Did Radio Shack deserve the crap people gave them? Not in the #80s, pal. In our favorite decade, they cranked out bangers like the Armatron. I would take this gem over anything at Toys R Us—then or now. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMdm...

My dad’s midlife crisis took the form of an ‘82 Mazda RX-7 with louvers, an air dam, & coolass flippy lights. I drove it on occasion in the #90s, & no matter where I went, motorheads always came up to me gushing about its rotary engine. The #80s made some cool shit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvzF...

I say this knowing I may lose followers, but, gosh darn it, I’m nothing if not one of the bravest #80s fans on this site. Super Pac-Man is the best Pac-Man game. There. I said it. Do with me as you will. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVyc...

Dear Topps: I know I’ve given you shit on occasion for your #80s captions, but you have to give us SOMEthing. Are we supposed to come up with our own for this series? Like “Here, we see Cyndi and an Andy Warhol impersonator teaching ESL at Queensborough Community College”? #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

OK. It’s 1986, and these are your choices playing at the metroplex. Which one are you slapping down your $3.71 to see? #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

For those who like to add a little #80s décor to your abode, may I suggest some from Gary’s room in Weird Science. On the right are clear shots of his posters. The only one I can’t figure out is featured on the lower left. I asked every AI program, and none of them know what it is. Do you?

Let me tell you what cool looked like in the #80s. It looked like you. Wearing a concert T. The day after a concert. At school. It wasn’t just high fashion. It was a flex. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

This one time in the #80s, I only went into Spencer’s for some garlic-flavored gum and fake flies frozen in plastic ice cubes, but I’ll be damned if I didn’t leave with a whole bunch of other essential purchases. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

In the early #80s, when I saw Hello Kitty school supplies everywhere, I was absolutely dumbfounded. Who was this character? There was no Saturday morning cartoon, no movie, no action figure— nothing. Did they just skip all the marketing on the “they’ll buy this stuff because it’s cute” principle?

Our mall rocked so much ass in the #80s that it had its own screen-printing shop called Wild Tops. In it were stacks of binders, each with dozens upon dozens of awesome iron-ons. Flipping through them was a legit and cheap way to kill an hour, as you dreamed of your future wardrobe. #ilovethe80s

Depending on the day, you might catch me saying that Tears for Fears debut album is their best. It may not have had the U.S. chart success that their breakthrough follow-up had, but it’s rock solid all the way through. Even the deep cuts sound like singles. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mL-C...

Getting a McDonalds coupon in your #Halloween bag in the #80s was always a nice palate cleanser. Plus, real food always came in handy when you’re in a mall and routinely choosing arcade games over sustenance. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s #Halloween2025

In the #80s, we were innovators and we were risk-takers. We took sacred games that were institutions for 50 years— games widely considered untouchable— and we made sequels out of them. We were some dangerous-ass mofos. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQLf...

Well, the Long Rider was definitely not a “craze” in the #80s, but I know a good idea when I see one. A power steering for a skateboard? I haven’t been this excited for an innovation since velcro sneakers. #80snostalgia #ilovethe80s

You could hear the rhythmic pounding of Track & Field’s buttons out of the arcade and down the Northern Lights Mall corridor. It was shortly thereafter that arcades began installing these evil, painful button “surrounds” keeping players from having any fun. Dicks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dvp...
