Amateur bird nerd, and nature lover. Sharing my observations of the amazing diversity around me (mostly in Ontario 🇨🇦). Photos by me, taken with a Nikon Coolpix P950.
I randomly assigned my students a different warbler to research, and then had them design a trading card for them. I'm finding it hysterical how their cards match their personalities. 🤣🥰♥️

A sweet Red-bellied Woodpecker in the backyard. She was making quite the racket, I had no trouble spotting her. 🥰

I love watching raptors kiting. Pretty sure this is a Red -tailed Hawk. Trying to capture birds in flight is not a skill I have, but when they're kiting they are so still it is much easier! Wind conditions over Lake Ontario were perfect.🥰♥️

It feels like Ive missed most of Fall migration with a cold, during the most amazing weather 😭 This was the highlight of my day today to see this Red-tailed hawk perched in a tree during afternoon recess with 400 kids playing below.

I love our native plant garden. we have different plants that bloom in spring, summer and fall. Currently it is New England aster's, and Heath aster's turn. 🥰

I wondered what was eating my butterfly milkweed, and a little of the common milkweed as well....I was hoping it was Monarch butterfly larvae, but nope, it is a Red-legged grasshopper. First season of this garden to have them as visitors.

There's still lots of pollinator activity happening in my native plant garden. First time seeing a species of North American grasshopper. Hey there little buddy. 🦗

On today's birding adventure I was certain I had two extra full batteries for my camera....turns out I did not. Of course there were birds everywhere, and I only managed these 3 captures of a Savannah Sparrow.

First year this Chokeberry bush has produced fruit! This is the third season since I planted it. I'm hoping some fall migrating birds will feast on them. 🥰

Plant native plants, attract native pollinators. I just learned that this Tiger Bee Fly is not just a pollinator, but it is also a parasite to carpenter bee flies which nest almost exclusively in man-made structural wood. Happy to see this guy around keeping my home safe. 🥰 #inverts, #nativegardens

Discovered this Red Admiral chillin' in our native plant garden this morning. Been seeing more invertebrate action than birds this month. 🥰
