This is the first time ever that an orbital sequence has been captured showing Ireland with the Aurora Borealis. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. It will be a very long time indeed before anyone gets a similar shot. (if I am wrong about this I will shave my head 😉)

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

A Titan of European space science. And a lovely man. An early champion of multi-disciplinary science, during a key period when Irish space scientists were seeking to capitalise on our (founding) membership of @esa.int

Now that we have exact mission elapsed times for closest approach of Artemis II, can anyone suggest an online tool *for dummies* that would allow me plug-in the exact arrival time in UTC and then generate a lunar far side map showing illumination.

My beermat analysis of perilune arrival dates for Artemis II tells me that "late in the monthly launch window" is an outcome greatly to be desired by lunar geologists 😉. Mare Orientale should be well-illuminated on all passes.

I know Michael O'Leary (and I like him, on a personal level), but I rarely if ever agree with him. Here, I make an exception!

Gosh, US lunar programmes have been more impactful than I realised! (Another interpretation might be that free trade - not tariffs - gave us knowledge of Apollo and Artemis in the first place?)

A news segment may be cancelled behind the ICE Curtain, but in the best traditions of Radio Liberty and Radio Free Europe it is still available in the "Free World" 🍁 www.thereset.news/p/breaking-h...
BREAKING: Here’s the 60 Minutes Segment Trump and CBS News Executives Don’t Want You to See
Hours before it was set to air last night, CBS News executives pulled the segment, but Canada’s Global TV app received it prior to broadcast.

The original readers of this essay would have known that Lee had won a Pulitzer just before this was published. Her unnamed benefactor was Michael Brown, who wrote "The John Birch Society" - a mocking-song that has proved to be a warning to history from the 60's @washingtonpost.com

Found this archive by accident today, and I have to admit I was quite emotional. Hours later, we saw Miranda and I was standing beside Gene Shoemaker as the images came in. He was estatic: the crowning evidence for his theories of destruction and reaccretion.

Per @nasawatch.bsky.social in the other place, this was dumped in a corridor at GSFC with the sort of note you see on a used car! There's even a phone number.

It is a full scale model of Relay-1 , an early US telecom satellite that broadcast news of the Kennedy assassination into Europe!

This remarkable spy satellite image of Dublin was taken a week before Ireland began to change (very, very slowly) forever. The "Bishop and the Nightie" controversy in February 1966 was a landmark moment.
