2025 is easily becoming one of those years astrologers and herbalists will reflect on for a long time to come. It feels like every iteration of the moon and movement of the stars and planets, brings so much out of human beings and is felt in every fiber of our being. Add on, a person already on their healing journey: deconstructing destructive lies and embedded thought patterns, it's enough to want to go back to hibernation.

Homegrown Yarrow One thing about learning plants, walking with them, working with them: is that you find out quite quickly how all of nature is completely entwined. What is happening in the heavenlies, is not far from what is happening with us; which long and short right now, is: a lot. There was the partial solar eclipse in Aries yesterday, and thus, the new moon in Aries and then today the mega moment: Neptune leaving Pisces and entering Aries (it's first foray here since 1861).

The Virgo Lunar Eclipse came and lingers still before the partial solar eclipse in Aries. Considering we're all carbon, our bodies are feeling the movement of the stars and luminaries, too. Virgo rules the digestive system and thus the enteric (gut-brain connection) system. It's involved in how our minds process information, our own curiosity and nitpicking tendencies that often end up affecting our nervous system, too.

I am thoroughly thrilled to share something I have been working hard on for a good while now: Glimmers. Glimmers are in-person healing sessions that will be hosted at Persimmon Herb School (my herbal alma mater 🌿), where survivors can gather together to learn about how plants can be incorporated into our daily lives as we continue our healing journey. Healing isn't linear and requires flexibility and endurance, which is so core to plants.

The same way self-care is an act of resistance; knowing plants and remembering the old ways of healing is, too. When you descend from a line of people who were refused a formal education: either to suppress knowledge or to be sold the myth that they weren’t colonized, but merely made a Protectorate (Uganda in 1894; you understand that knowing what your elders have always known: is power.

Today was named Sunday for the sun. Helios, Ra, Apollo, Daystar the list goes on. As we inch into Spring, it's understandable why people found countless ways to honor our giant star. Whether that is sun bathing, taking long walks, hanging washing to dry, we love to be in those sun rays. It's almost like a small reminder to enjoy this life, even amidst all the woes.

Aquarius season began on Jan. 20 and runs through to Feb. 18. Running feels like the right word for this innovative, creative, always thinking zodiac. Aquarius is an air sign and is connected to our circulatory and nervous system. Think how oxygen gets around our body and our intellect and mental processes. Around this time of year, there might be more going on in both our bodies and minds.
