Interestingly laws seem to say kick is disallowed and scrum is awarded- but with it being just a scrum, wouldn’t that mean the game is over?

Have been watching Scotland since 88, and feel we’ve usually been lighter than the English or French packs of the same time (barring a brief spell around Frank Hadden’s tenure as head coach)

Hopefully a speed bump rather than a full stop but Edinburgh doesn’t seem to have been a fertile ground for kicking on careers of late - Sam Skinner, Ben Healy, etc. Here’s hoping Ashman bucks that trend

I think he’s struggled to shake off a label which was applicable earlier in his career but hasn’t been for some time. Most of his more recent “moments” with Scotland come from light rather than heavy infantry in front of him

I've actually been a huge fan of Ashman since U20s where he looked a real prospect especially in defence and the loose, and genuinely hope the exposure to this environment will prove beneficial to his development as a player, which seems to have stalled a little in the last year or so...
