Followed up The Shining with Doctor Sleep. @stephenking.bsky.social I really enjoyed it. I loved the mythos of the shining/steam. The Shining = despair. Doctor Sleep = Hope. And I ain't mad about it.

The Kyoto ritual subplot was almost cut from the film. I'm glad that they left it in. Goddard had to fight for a lot of scenes to be left in this movie. He also had to stop the studios from trying to turn this into a 3D film. #FFBMovieNight

The cells/cubes were filmed and created with the use of green screens. There were multiple different sized cubes as well in order to make people or animals look larger or smaller than they were. They were all added together later on. #FFBMovieNight

This film is Goddard's debut directorial film. He wanted to originally create it all in practical, with little to no CGI. However, once they learned how huge of a space they were using for the offices, they needed to use large CGI monsters to fill in the volume. #FFBMovieNight
