I saw it on Broadway recently and have never seen the film! I grew up despising syrupy musicals and can’t say I loved it. I did love Audra as Mama Rose, and who knew that so many American standards have their origins in Gypsy? I know Let Me Entertain You from Ginger Grant, etc.

I rewatched it recently, and it’s less than near its reputation. Women are not characters. They exist solely as girlfriends or adornments. It captures the poverty and bleakness that was Ireland in that era perfectly.

A big problem with public transportation is way too many stops. My international coworkers comment on how short the distance is between each bus stop. I never noticed it until then and confirmed it taking public transport abroad.

I use Waymo and notice that they will not stop in illegal locations to pick you up or drop you off. It can take some sprinting to get to the car after receiving the arrival notification, or a hike after being dropped off. My use is mostly around Union Square, in the Castro, or near the Mission.
