You'd be forgiven for thinking from Sky's coverage that Spurs actually lost that game.

Charging people to post obituaries and funeral arrangements is absolutely fucking vampiric. Extorting grieving families is the Irish Times idea for revenue generation? Whoever suggested that should have been made leave the building via the window.

Only surprise here is they managed to find a representative sample of Irish people willing to admit they're middle class.

I'm sure the players don't care about a Saudi World Cup. Except of course Newcastle players who'll be discovering for the first time they declared for the Saudi national team when they signed their contacts

How many ghosts do you reckon would have to visit some of these CEOs at Christmas before they consider they're the problem? More than 3 and you've less conscience than a Victorian caricature of a greedy person. More than 4? Violence may be the answer.

It's too easy to dismiss FIFA as simply greedy. These reptiles quite clearly have convinced themselves they are a force for good in the world.

What really grinds my gears is the pretence that journalists are merely passive observers and that a large section of the profession feels they don't actively contribute to discourse when they give soft interviews, decline to run a story, copy and paste a press release or run inflammatory headers.
I increasingly feel alienated from media outlets as coherent editorial packages.

While there are individual journalists and columnists I trust and whose work I always read, there seems a wider gulf between what the media institutions want and what I want.

Never quite been able to understand the hold this industry has on Irish politics. I mean I assume it's cronyism but you can't even pretend any benefits are being derived from it. If you *need* 20m from the State you are an industry that is dead or dying. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/d...

I enjoyed the part where they committed an unfathomably disproportionate amount of resources to a single murder investigation and did away with any subtext.

If 1 in 6 employers were refusing to hire [insert any other characteristic here] because of their own sweeping generalisations about how that entire group behave it would be uncontroversially framed as their own fault. Fail to see any reason that shouldn't be the case here. That's a them problem.

I struggle to identify musical genres at the best of times without Spotify telling me I had a Viking Cinema springtime.

I'm sure it's fun and hats off to them but something always feels off to me about Hyrox. It's like someone took CrossFit and removed all of the skill and technical ability in order to make it easier so they had something to compete in.

Nice to see Manchester United players sell out lifelong LGBTQ+ fans to protect the feelings of a guy who arrived in the door 5 minutes ago.

Once a week I think about Dublin Bus admitting that what they branded as "real-time info" were guesses made by a computer based on historic trends and nothing to do with your actual bus. If it's just telling when it's supposed to be there it's just an electric timetable.

Call it wishful thinking but nothing I've read so far has me convinced whatever government forms next will survive its full term.

A number of prominent journalists and radio talk show hosts just fell to their knees.
France has just had a review of healthcare for young trans people and it has come out entirely the opposite to Cass. But then again the personnel involved had not been specifically selected to arrive at a politically-required outcome.

Every time without exception that a football player announces they won't wear anything that even trivially supports LGBTQI+ people there is always always ALWAYS dozens of pictures of them wearing a shirt with a sponsor that also violates their supposedly deeply held and practiced beliefs.
