Despite ample evidence the world does not operate this way, I still live in the belief that:

Luck, hard work, honesty, ethical behavior, and concern for others is the right way to “win” at life.
Who has standing to file a lawsuit against the Trump Administration for Hatch Act violations? It is prolific and wrong and can’t simply continue being accepted as normal.

I know it is silly to ask — but does Trump have legal authority to do this? War ravaged Portland? Domestic terrorists? How does this nightmare end?

If you are going to run a scam can you at least be a professional about it? This text message from “New Jersey Department of Taxation” doesn’t even use a NJ area code. It is not even a US number. Lazy scammers.

Operation Salt Typhoon by China is both scary and predictable. Given its international breadth and multiple coordinated attack vectors, how did all the very well funded cyber security agencies around the world not identify it sooner?

I don't remember when (or if) I told Edge that it should change my default search engine to Bing, but I will be switching it back.

What if none of the major AI companies developing LLMs can find a long-term business model?

At some point this would collapse the ever increasing investments in chips and LLMs.

Great! I am now receiving the same spam in iMessage that I used to only receive on WhatsApp.

Without intentional management and government policy, I foresee no other possibility than advanced AI increasingly concentrating global wealth in hands of fewer and fewer people.

Massive power failure on Iberian peninsula reported today. Large scale power outages across Spain and Portugal.

No reports on cause yet.

Nice late inning comeback for the Red Sox against the Cardinals today. For a couple years it felt like any close games fell to the opponents 75% of the time. This team feels different early in the season. Fun to watch.

Have any news organizations validated the tariffs that Trump claims other countries impose of US goods?

I did a quick search on Vietnam since it is a very high 90% but found nothing close to that. I don’t believe anything he claims. Where is the fact checking?

As a skier, I would very much like to see northeast ski areas start posting condition reports here so I don’t have to go on X.

This is the kind of info I still have to go there for because their websites are all terrible for daily condition updates.

How many people have moved all or most of their stock investments to cash since a Trump took office? Is there a dividing line based on who they voted for, I wonder?

Vibe coding tonight. I have tried lo/no code tools before but this is a new era:

Replit, V0, Lovable, Bolt

I have a specific mobile app I want to build but don’t think there is anything that does nice native mobile apps yet. Meanwhile I do have an initial test app to experiment and learn with.

Facebook is officially dead. I do have friends and family that still post there. However, I just opened the app and scrolled through 40+ posts, none of which were from anyone I know. All were promoted posts or suggested groups.

Did it just break or has it been like this for a while?
