i've been trying really hard to leave more comments under things i like. i try to leave a comment on any fic, and i have been commenting more on art. it does a lot to tell someone "hey! i liked this". you don't even have to go in-depth, you can keep it simple. don't be a passive consumer of art!

I think a big fandom shift in interacting with stuff has gone from people commenting under the created thing whether it be fic or art to people linking it in private discord groups where the person who made it will never see any positive comments left on the thing they made.

and as a final, final wrap on 2025, here are 4 snippets from my September Writes fic that i'm really happy with. i love tenderness and i love heartache. here's to much more writing and plenty of throat-tightening emotions in the new year. 🤍🥂

“Might I offer you some solace?” It was a quiet thing, a careful approach. “Aye,” she whispered, voice soft as flower petals on his ears. “I would kill myself a thousand times before I let myself kill you.” He felt her shiver in his arms. “You speak as though you’ve seen the end of the world and the hell that lies beyond it.” Revenant leaned back. Though she could not see his eyes, she peered at his helm. “And what if you don’t succeed?” His hands migrated to her waist, holding her as she straddled his lap. He had been the one to pull her forward, but had not thought of the consequences he would suffer hence. Still, he did not back down. His hidden gaze held steady. “You have permission to kill me in my stead.” She had seen Wylder lying in a pool of his own blood and she had knelt in it to save him. It was the first time she had known that life and death were warm and cold all the same. Corpses left to lie were cold, but the early stages—the leeching of life into the atmosphere and returning it to the heavens and the earth—was disgustingly warm. A final embrace. She could never love life like death could. Recluse brushed her thumb across the doll’s shoulder. “Deary—” “No.” Revenant set her jaw, inhaling sharply. Frowning. “I can’t stop. I can’t stop. I can never stop. I can never stop—” She began to sob. Recluse gasped, reaching out quickly to fold Revenant into her arms and hold her. Duchess stood from her seat across the room in a start, stopping before she could run over and placing a hand over her heart. Recluse felt her heart, which she often bandaged away where others could not see, tear in two. Duchess pursed her lips into a fine line. She, too, looked as if she could cry. In that moment, all three women shared the heartache of loving in an accursed world. He kissed her gently, he kissed her softly, he kissed her with a warmth imbued with life that she had always given him—crossing the barrier from death into light and bringing him back from the brink. The girl who had fought with compassion and empathy and kinship against a Night that had not earned her forgiveness had finally won, and it brought Grace and light and Life to the world. At least for a time, at least for now— —and Wylder was not going to waste it ever again.

last wip wednesday of 2025 have something stupid that might not go anywhere but also. smiles.
Ironeye did not particularly care to voice his desires. He was a member of the Fellowship: a trained and tactical assassin who went wherever missives from Isolde directed him. While he frequently worked alone, he was not averse to collaboration and equally did not mind being a cog of a larger machine. So long as Ironeye had a direction to keep moving in, so long as his flow belonged to him alone, he was unlikely to drown. This made the doll a bit of an interesting development. And notably so made him with his trousers open and her bent over in front of him, skirt hiked around her waist, a natural step forward. Though one he hadn't exactly anticipated.
