Flexibility of thought ✔️ Applying known facts ✔️ Deducing efficient procedures ✔️ Correcting own mistakes ✔️ Can you see all these elements of fluency in this student's NumberRamble level? What else can you see? Let us know your thoughts👇

Sam had a really good chat with Kendra Jacobs of Mathematizing 24/7 about what it takes to build thriving mathematical communities. It'll be available as an episode on Kendra’s podcast ‘Beyond the Numbers’ soon! Read on to get a taste of how it started… vist.ly/4m5kj

In the final part of this 3-part blog series, we consider how what we believe influences what we think matters most, and the decisions we make when teaching.. vist.ly/4kyu9 What do you believe about how we build better mathematicians? Tell us 👇

One route to fluent recall is through massive amounts of mathematical reasoning. Check out how this child 👇 develops and applies their knowledge of both multiplication and division to solve this level. True fluency in action! 😀

Yes! It's great that stem.org.uk have materials like this archived for us to still access- thanks for the reminder 😀

Watch this <1min video of a child playing BrickUp👇 What do they know about these numbers? Where can you see fluency? What might you talk with them about to develop their thinking even further? Let us know your thoughts below...

In Part 2 of this 3-part blog series, we explore generative learning - why doing > receiving, and how we can reshape mathematical practice. vist.ly/4ku6y Let us know what you think!

NumberClub is underpinned by a simple idea....children happily get through the huge amounts of mathematical thought they need, if you give them ingenious mathematical tasks to practise their facts, rather than trying to motivate them to answer trivial questions over and over.

New year, new features - in case you missed it, Playback is here! You can now watch every mathematical move your students make in our games. It's a treasure trove of rich progress and assessment data. And accessing their playing records couldn't be easier👇 #fluency #NumberClub

More evidence of rapid impact! This child's addition test score went from 30 to 52/52 after just 6 weeks of playing BrickUp for 30 minutes a week - that's an increase of 73.3%! His teacher says "It must be the game that's made the difference" #fluency #NumberClub

Products and factors, and all the relationships and connections between them. That's the beauty and genius of Stick and Split. Rich, connected multiplicative reasoning that ALL children can access. Schools are amazed by what they see their children doing - you could be too 👇

This week it's all about Stick and Split 😀 We love the levels that start with random numbers, they encourage such flexible thinking about multiplicative relationships. What can you see here that you would call fluency? #fluency #NumberClub #MTBoS

This is why we do what we do!!! Reaching children who have the most difficulty with maths. It's been quite the week for BrickUp 😀 #fluency #NumberClub #MTBoS

Such connected mathematical thinking! After just 1.5 hours practice over 3 weeks, the level of fluency and reasoning developing here is so good to see 😀 #fluency #NumberClub #MTBoS

I love watching these playbacks because you really can physically see that fluency develop over the course of the level. Eg, notice how the player initially tries 2+3=6, but once this has been rejected, they play two instances of 2+3=5 without a pause.
What's going on here? What does this learner know about numbers? Where are they making mathematical decisions? Where could they be more fluent? What would you suggest to this student? 👇 #numberclub #MTBoS

Maybe you'd have had more success with three.

What ratio of £5 to £20 were you asking for. My bank gets iffy when you ask for anything greater than 4.
