This follows the same pattern used by the Myanmar military in the 1990s. The Arakan Army (AA) has built Rakhine villages on Rohingya land. This plan was revealed in 2018 by the brother of the AA's chief, and a video of his speech is available. 1/2

Although the Myanmar military is the enemy of the Arakan Army (AA), the military’s genocide against the Rohingya — and its practice of forcibly confiscating Rohingya land to redistribute to its own people — appears to have become a model for the AA. 1/3

The situation of the Rohingya in the IDP camps, which are essentially concentration camps in Sittwe, is extremely worrying. Many people survive on sweet potatoes alone every day, while others can afford only one meal a day.

Immediate humanitarian assistance is urgently needed.

Hey Arakan Army (AA),

If you are innocent, there is no need to fear anything. You don't need to lie or try to cover up anything. However, since you are entirely responsible for the Htan Shauk Kan massacre, you have felt the necessity to plan and organize a cover-up. 1/
