Consumer extraordinaire! I dig big books.
A delightfully engaging, breezy, and heartfelt portrait of a marriage. Fabulously executed examination of relationships, parenthood, and the undeniable ways that we are shaped by time and circumstance. Loved it! I should probably now also think about getting to ‘The Nix’!

Delighted to get back to Baker and the marvelous minutiae that he does so effectively. Unabashed, plodding sentences that implore the reader to just slow down with a clear mind and dig into details with him. Splendid 📚🤓

Absolutely fucking astounding novel. Explorations of the biggest moral questions we face as a species. Using very real people and events, Labatut somehow makes things like quantum mechanics, logic and complex mathematics totally riveting. Only my fifth 5⭐️ read of the year 👏🏻

Check out the Spinecrackers podcast on this, one of the best reading experiences of my life, although certainly not for everyone. Three things that helped me through…….1. A great group 2. An invaluable online resource (Malcolm Lowry Project) 3. A resolved initial mindset.

This was such a pleasant surprise! It swept me along as she describes her formative years and beyond, beautifully capturing a time and place. By turns bold and incisive, poetic and poignant, light and humerous, I was really very impressed with it all. Babitz was super talented.
