The NPSO Siskiyou Chapter has a field trip to French Flat ACEC this Sat, March 15th from 9-2pm. We'll explore plant id on serpentine soils. 11 species of rare plants grow here, including the largest population of Cook’s lomatium on federal lands.

It burned in the fire but is coming back well

Announcing an iNaturalist Winter ID-a-thon Feb. 15-23!
We want to add ids to as many “Needs ID” plant observations for Oregon as possible. Our goal is 25,000 ids. The event runs 12AM Saturday to 11:59 PM Sunday. We want everyone, regardless of your level of botanical expertise, to contribute.

HB 3173 to support OregonFlora was heard on February 5th. The portal for testimonies has been closed with 338 written testimonies in support of native plants! Next, the Natural Resources committee will either vote in favor or not. If there is a positive vote, it will go to the Senate next.

Meet Darlingtonia californica, aka cobra lily! 🐍🌸 This carnivorous plant, native to Southern Oregon & Northern California, traps insects in its pitcher-shaped leaves. Found at Darlingtonia State Natural Site in Florence, Oregon, it thrives on nutrient-poor soil by digesting prey. A true Oregon gem!
