1/ 🚨 53 Filipinos are diagnosed with HIV every day. Access to PrEP, a game-changing HIV prevention tool, is still limited in the Philippines. Programs like #PEPFAR and EpiC are crucial in bridging the gap. But now, these efforts are at risk. 🧵
The Trump administration instructed organizations in other countries to stop disbursing HIV medications purchased with U.S. aid, even if the drugs have already been obtained and are sitting in local clinics.

PEPFAR’s computer systems also are being taken offline, a sign that the program may not return, as Republican critics had hoped.

The global fight against #HIV/ #AIDS is a delicate balance of science, solidarity, and sustained support. Yet, Trump’s Executive Order halting U.S. humanitarian aid risks unraveling decades of progress. Here’s why this decision is dangerous—and deeply unjust. 🧵

This Christmas, sending love to those spending it alone—especially our queer siblings & those living with HIV who’ve been disowned. You are seen, loved, & valued just as you are. Chosen families & communities can be just as powerful. You are never alone. Yakap na mahigpit! ❤️

Filipino values shaped my leadership as a nursing chair during changes in Philippine nursing education:
🤝 Pakikisama for trust
🤲 Bayanihan for community
🙏 Utang na loob for collaboration
💡 Diskarte for challenges

Grateful for the lessons. Read more: bit.ly/4foXSvB

Reflecting on my leadership as a nursing program chairperson, I’m reminded of the resilience and resourcefulness I drew from these four Filipino values.

A student asked, “Sir, ano po ibig sabihin ng pin na ‘You Are Safe With Me’?”

I smiled and said, “Ibig sabihin nito, ligtas ka, nirerespeto, at pinahahalagahan kita—kahit sino ka man, sino ang mahal mo, o paano mo ipresenta ang sarili mo. 🌈

“Where Compassion Meets Innovation: Nurturing the Nurses’ Human Spirit in the Age of AI” at Our Lady of Fatima University

AI is a powerful tool, but it will never replace the “galing” at “malasakit” of Filipino nurses. Compassion must remain at the core of nursing care. 💖

🌍 On World AIDS Day 2024, we reflect on this year’s theme: “Take the Rights Path: My Health, My Right.” Across the globe, human rights violations continue to hinder progress in HIV prevention, testing, treatment, care, and support. Let’s dive into the challenges. 🧵

Health is a right, not a privilege.

On #WorldAIDSDay, I honor the courage of those living with HIV and recommit to creating a future where everyone can say: “My Health, My Right.”

Together, let’s break stigma, fight inequity, and walk the rights path to justice.

What I thought would be a chill flight to NRT turned eventful. Helped stabilize an older adult who fainted mid-flight with low BP, high HR, and low O2. Elevated his feet, got him on oxygen, and coordinated with staff for airport clinic support.

Nurse mode: ON. ✈️ #Nursing
