Happy Black Forest hot chocolate day to those who celebrate. Also three years since I was told by a consultant that we didn’t need to wait for the test results as he was certain I had cancer.

I prefer to think of today as Black Forest hot chocolate day.

Won the Cake Off! (And had a decent cross country run too.) ❤️👍😊

Hospital scanxiety completed. Now we wait for the results. Hopefully that’s it for 18 months. 🤞

Second V40 at Richard Burton 10k. A tough course but my quickest run there by over 2 minutes. Plus bonus to bump into @proftomcrick.com !

Went to see David Olusoga speak in Newport and he was brilliant.

Also discovered mixed spice cake with eyeballs at Brød.

A great weekend.

We can stand down: it’s a cyst, not cancer recurrence.
And while that’s great news, I am so tired at the thought that every single time I notice something like this for the rest of my life, we will go through this again.
I so wish the whole thing had never happened.
Ran a marathon for Wales masters on Sunday. Yayyyy.

Hideous awful hospital appointment tomorrow.
Boooo.

At a Costa near Swindon, frankly feeling more relaxed than I have all week. Some weeks, the achievement is just to make it to the end. Hang in there.

Thousands of older people will still struggle this winter, cutting back on essentials, and facing the impossible “heat or eat” question.
@talkolderpeople.bsky.social Rhian Bowen-Davies sets out the impact of fuel poverty to @nea-cymru.bsky.social conference.

Powerful intro to first panel session at @nea-cymru.bsky.social from Danni Barnes from @nea.org.uk where we heard the impact of fuel poverty on an individual level and the difference support can make.

Excellent introduction from @bensaltmarsh.bsky.social of @nea-cymru.bsky.social setting out the scale of fuel poverty in Wales and thanking the audience for all the work they do to support people living in fuel poverty (even those who respond to consultations!).

My Nanna was born 102 years ago today. She made it to 93. She was epic. She and my grandad raised 6 kids, she managed at home while he fought in WW2. But the things I remember are how she was fun.

This is a great piece of local journalism - about all those flags going up in Brum.

Some interesting details.
Ryan Bridge has become a familiar face in Stirchley lately. He's one of two "company directors" of raisetheflags.org, where he collects donations from £10-£500 for flags.

Getting up before 6am to run 19 miles of hills on holiday isn’t everyone’s idea of fun but fortunately, I’m the kind of sicko who enjoys that kind of thing.

Forced down a banana and a cereal bar and started on the first hill not long after 6.20.

Watched the sun come up over Costa Adeje.

Assisted pull ups in the gym with a band so springy I almost catapulted myself across the room trying to get my foot out when I was done.

Note to self: you need less assistance but the comedy value will be lower.

Sometimes you just need a 22 mile training run to help put hard stuff in perspective. I feel better now.

Shout to everyone whose running coach gave them tempo and hills and who is now contemplating leaving the house at a disgusting time in disgusting weather.

In the middle of so much awful stuff, just dropping by to say I randomly set a big 10k PB at Swansea today and seem to have won my age category in the Welsh Champs. 😊
Feel a bit like the woman from Uruguay who got the bronze medal at the World Champs in Tokyo. She couldn’t quite believe it either.
