One of the biggest consequences I see of representative democracy is people giving up on doing anything except voting for what they perceive is the lesser evil, and if that doesn't work, just wait for the next election I guess.

It's not that hard to see why a country attacking and bombing another country to "liberate" their people is a bad idea, regardless of how bad that country's government is.

I don't know why it seems more realistic to them that a company would do those things just because they woke up and decided to be "evil" one day, and not for profit maximization under a system that encourages that.
