First piece of concept art I made for my upcoming Y2K era inspired animated short, "Zip Transfer" !

Concept art of a midnight desert landscape. A large pink viaduct leads from bottom left of the image, where a knight character is walking, towards the middle right as the bridge leaves us outside the image. Bricks shine in the moonlight, covered by the shadow of an orange manta ray, floating above it. Large translucent computer shells act as pyramids in the distance. Other large sea creatures swim around, like a yellow and white fish with black stripes, and a seahorse. The sand is a greenish blue. The moon has a light blue tint, large craters, and yellow lines rushing across it in a spiral pattern from the right towards the middle. The night sky above is dark green, dappled with stars.

Green and Teal shaded knight with a pointy eared helmet, teardrop diamond shaped eyeholes, and a divider in the middle rising. Left shoulder covered by a purple leather piece, somewhat petal shaped. It is slinged across the body in the front, a clasp shaped like the helmet's eye keeping it there. Chestplate is two toned teal. Belt separates the top and bottom half of the knight. Right leg is purple and polygonal, left leg has regular cloth with swirly plant-like pattern. Metal boots with shin guards end in a point at the toes. Left glove is shown to have circuits running from the base of the glove into the thumb and pointer finger.

Spent a lot of time on research, and took a crack at actually concepting some helmets! I am horrible with lineart so I decided to go with the silhouette approach. I've already found some shapes I like and did more explorations of those. Now onto full armor!

I spent some time finding brushes for textures and the general art direction for the short movie I'm planning to make this year. Left is basic chalk, right is an oil brush I found. Defo vibing w/ the oil.

While I'm working on concepts, I decided to plunge into actual studies. Today is an eye of random ref i found online. I wish my forms were more sharp! I need to get details down better in lower res, then we are golden. The tutorial i watched did it in 15 mins, this took me 2 hours. Space to improve!
