Europe’s digital house is built on foreign foundations.

Our latest study reveals that over 74% of publicly listed European companies host email—and by extension their entire tech stack—on US platforms subject to foreign laws.

Is using AI for an answer a simple internet search would provide a waste of resources?

When speaking of bash scripts (including mine):

99% are poorly written
95% should -not- be written in bash
50% only work on the developer's machine

And, for some reason, that is the way it should be.

By default companies overcharge the customer, dividing customers into 3 groups. Those who...
- don't complain: are rich?
- complain: will receive a predefined discount.
- threaten to cancel: will receive the lowest predefined discount.
No matter what the company to still turns a profit.

Proton has launched a new #opensource two-factor authentication app for mobile and desktop. If reaching for your phone every time you need a 2FA code gets annoying, this might appeal.
Proton’s New 2FA Authenticator App Supports Ubuntu
Proton launches a free, open-source 2FA app with cross-device sync. It works on all major OSes, including Ubuntu, as a privacy-focused alternative to Google Authenticator.

If AI learns by processing what has been written, AND the quality of code generated by AI is not to be trusted AND some estimate AI generates 41% of code across the industry.

Doesn't this indicate that the quality of code is going down AND AI will soon teach itself to code with less quality?

I spent the night listening to Arch Enemy (Thank you to @gregdonald.com) and System of a Down.

Until listening to Mezmerize & Hypnotize I never realized how much SOAD sounds like Mr Bungle. Now when I listen to their other albums that's all I hear.

Oh, and Strike Anywhere... long night.

Not that my opinion matters, but...

After trying out vifm; I like the implementation. Functionality is intuitive (if you know vim) and easy to memorize.

For me personally, I don't really need an interface for file management, but fun none the less. Anyone else give it a try?

One of my favorite bands to listen to while programming is Rage Against the Machine. Which is funny in a completely unintended way.

What are some bands you enjoy listening to while engineering?

Earlier I mentioned using ctrl+r to reverse search your bash history. Since the ctrl+r 'shortcut is used in several of the apps I use I decided to make a list:

bash: reverse search history
vim: redo
lynx: refresh
calcurse: reload

I see two themes in this list.

I love git, but hate github. I am currently looking for an alternative, if anyone has any suggestions.

Ideally I would prefer free server space so I can run my own git instance along with some project management software, but all suggestions welcome.

I can't believe it has taken me this long to bother looking up how to scroll in tmux. If anyone is wondering; enter copy-mode ( ctrl+b [ ), scroll, 'q' to quit mode.
Now can someone tell me how to clear my #terminal, without typing clear when using vi mode in bash? ctrl-l produces ^L in insert mode.

Why can't my Pixel phone 'learn' that I work the graveyard shift and stop reminding me to update in the middle of the night? It should recognize it's mostly used in the middle of the night and remind me to update in the morning when I'm heading to bed and charging it. Seems simple. #android #pixel
