The group had a tour of the new exhibitions which generated lots of cinema related chat and excitement.

We watched the film that is going in the cinema exhibition, and everyone was very engaged. It, again, generated a lot of conversation.

Farmworkers mainly from John Davy's Farm at Thornton Abbey and Somersby on their way to enrol in the Local Defence Volunteers at Brigg during the Second World War in 1940 The L.D.V. became the Home Guard. Amongst the group are Mr M. Davy and Mr Tom Carr.

Maker Sam presented on witchcraft and pagan festivals with great success, we made spell bottles and created clay sculptures for the craft.

One of the new exhibitions opening at Normanby Hall in February 2026 is a display of watercolours by local artist Harold Astwood. Did you know Harold? The curator is looking for photographs and any original material relating to him.

Normanby Hall was constructed during the Regency Period between 1825 and 1830 however the first reference of Normanby Hall appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 and documentary evidence suggests that there were at least two earlier mansions on the site.

The theme of today's session was the Tiddy Mun, a legendary bog spirit, who was believed to have the ability to control the waters and mists of The Carrs of North Lincolnshire.

The group made their own Tiddy Mun figures and some Makers decorated a mask.
