I'm trying to figure out which is more plausible β that the ransom demands are an opportunistic hoax, or that bitcoin has made kidnapping for ransom a viable option again.

OMG. DHS "sparked a continental outcry when it confirmed that ICE agents would provide security at the Olympics", but not to worry! The administration has promised ICE "wonβt be conducting the type of violent operations the world has seen it undertake in Minnesota."

The very existence of for-profit prisons is a sign of the moral collapse of our society, as far as I'm concerned.
When they're outlawed and those companies are driven out of business, that's when we'll be starting to get this country back on track.

My brother had a positive TB test when we were kids. Never found out how he was exposed to it, but he had to take daily medication to treat it for almost a year.
The US govt needs to test and potentially provide months of treatment to every person in that facility who's been exposed. But will they?

Doesn't EVERYONE who comes in contact with someone with an active case of TB have to be tested, and potentially undergo MONTHS of treatment?
