Kiyoko intended to marry Tsukiyo to secure an asset and to avoid the same happening to her, but...
OC comic: Tsukiyo (blue hair; party leader, MC) and Kiyoko (red hair; magic nuker, from a noble family) speaking to each other. They recently agreed to marry for basically-political reasons. (n.b. near-future setting, artificial gametogenesis exists so heirs aren't an issue) Kiyoko: I had believed—because you have proven your worth—it would be enough that you were the one I chose to stand by my side. But I was mistaken. Kiyoko: An engagement grounded in pragmatism is seen as *negotiable*. Kiyoko: Elders present *alternatives*, demanding I consider the importance of bloodline, of decorum, of strategic alliances... Kiyoko: ...but in truth, they simply mean to claim me for their clans. Kiyoko: So if we are to defend our union, we must take away from them the weapon of "reason". We must convince them we are in love. Tsukiyo: No problem. I love lying. I lie all the time. In fact, the thought that I can tell lies is what gets me up in the morning. Kiyoko: That is quite concerning, given that we are to be wed.
