I'm a husband, dad and reader & writer of poems, from Ireland. I have poems in various journals and a couple of published pamphlets. You can buy them here https://niallmoliverpoetry.bigcartel.com/

I'm considering the move to here from X and would love to connect with both familiar and new faces from the poetry and writing community. Not sure how it works here, but if you can help me do that I'd really appreciate it.
Question for poetry people. I've been on this platform for a good while now but I've been idle. How is it going here for all things poetry? I'm still on X but I hardly see any poetry topics on it at all anymore.

Lovely to see my poem in the hands of one of my favourite journals. If you have a few minutes, please take a look.

An example of how Bluesky is going for me, versus X. I posted this same message at the same time on both platforms. Over 500 likes on X and only 43 on bluesky.

My time has come. I got to almost 47 years, but now I'm an official spectacle wearer. How fitting the first book I plucked from my bookcase was called 'Life Support' with a big pair of eyes on it

Whenever I told my mum I'd started writing poetry, she said 'wait there' and left the room, before returning with a book, saying 'this would be a good time to give you this then': A copy of Seamus Heaney's Haw Lantern, signed with a personal dedication by the great man himself, some 30yrs earlier.

For those of you who don't already know, this is a poetry press you should definitely be following!
I've spent the last few hours, trying desperately to think of something suitably cool and profound to say about poetry and lit in this, my first Bluesky puff of cloud, but failed dismally.

So instead I'll just say

hello
to new friends and
old

and here is my favourite guitar
